Residents of Den Bosch Apartment Complex Fed Up with Dangerous Neighbor

Residents of a flat in Den Bosch are completely done with one of their neighbors. The 52-year-old man was arrested on Sunday evening because he allegedly set fire to a container. About thirty residents had to leave their homes as a precaution. “We feel very unsafe,” says resident Marijke Matulessy.

The melted container is still in front of the flat on Heerendonklaan on Monday morning, with a blackened fire extinguisher next to it. “I’m still shaking completely. I couldn’t sleep last night,” Marijke continues. “That man is completely out of control.” He would have been ‘ladder-satisfied’ and with music at the container on Sunday evening.

“Toilet paper in the trees and mash on the balcony.”

Bullying, graffiti in the hallway and other confused behavior. Several local residents sketch a man who has been causing nuisance for years. “He bangs on women’s doors at night. That is very scary. He also once threw toilet paper in the trees here,” says 63-year-old Jeanette Claassen, who gives one example after another.

“Throwing food scraps on your windows or knocking over plants, we experience so much,” continues Jeanette, who shows several photos. As soon as there is football, things go wrong.” Inge Nabbe (59) adds: “Twice he shredded and scattered magazines. He also threw tomato paste on the balcony of the neighbor.”

“I knew right away it was him.”

Apartment complex Den Heerendonck in Den Bosch was partially evacuated on Sunday evening after a fire raged in the container space of the complex. This happened around a quarter past eleven. “I was very upset. I immediately knew it was him,” continues Inge. “I wish I never came to live here.”

Smoke billowed into the complex. After the container was extinguished, the fire brigade blew the smoke out of the building with a large fan. The fire department checked apartments for carbon monoxide. When it was certain that everything was safe, the building was released and the residents were allowed to return home.

“If he comes back here, I’m gone.”

The local residents have had enough, they want him out of the house. They hope that housing corporation Brabant Wonen will intervene hard. The nuisance has been reported many times before. “We have to be tough. We are afraid and can no longer live safely,” Jeannette continues. “If he comes back here, I’m gone. I don’t feel safe here anymore.”

BrabantWonen responds to questions from Omroep Brabant with a general written response: “On Monday afternoon, the district manager and housing consultant will tour the building and talk to residents. The damage will be repaired by BrabantWonen maintenance employees. We cannot make any statements about the suspected perpetrator. .”

Police say the man will be questioned on Monday afternoon. A spokesperson could not say how long he will remain in custody.
