An earthquake struck northern Iraq near the border with Iran, Thursday, according to a Sky News Arabia correspondent.
Our correspondent said that the magnitude of the earthquake, which occurred at half past nine in the evening local time, amounted to 5 degrees on the Richter scale.
The epicenter of the earthquake is 22 km northeast of Halabja, and it was felt by residents of the provinces of Sulaymaniyah, Halabja, Kirkuk and Baghdad, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
It is not yet known whether the earthquake caused human or material losses.
