A crowd moved, sad, and even vehement. At least 200 people gathered on October 19 in the streets of Sedan (Ardennes). They wanted to pay tribute to little Loana, 10 years old. The schoolgirl had disappeared on her way home from her day of classes.
A disturbing disappearance, with a tragic epilogue: the discovery of the lifeless and abused body of the little girl. A 57-year-old man, known to the police, was arrested a few hours later. In the process, an investigation was opened by the Charleville-Mézières public prosecutor’s office for murder and rape of a minor under 15 years old. Before the prosecutor announced that the case would now be investigated by the Reims public prosecutor’s office, given the criminal nature of the facts.
Two days after his disappearance, the emotion is very strong. Especially since a search, in the presence of the suspect, was held this Thursday, October 19, in the afternoon. The crowd did not hesitate to react strongly, at the same time as it was very marked by the death of the little girl.

Among the people who wanted to be present, there was Antoine. He wanted to be present, even if he is still very saddened. “It’s my little sister. My father-in-law called me the day before yesterday, he was worried. He said that there was someone who told him that Loana had disappeared. We can’t find her. I ran everywhere. I told him to go to the police station. Wednesday evening, I saw on Facebook, I was following the progress and then in the end, I learned about it at 10 p.m., on my way back to work“, he sobbed.
The young man is devastated. Loana’s death is very difficult for him to admit, he who wanted to “his little half-brothers“and to her:”She’s a 10 year old girl, she turned 11 this year. She was full of life, she loved to play. There are no words, it’s horrible, it’s barbarism. We are destroyed. You can’t do that to a child, I’m sorry.”

Same sentence for a woman interviewed by our team. She is upset by what has just happened to little Loana: “I’ve been traumatized since last night. I didn’t know the little girl, but the fact that it was happening near my house was traumatic. It was my neighbor who perhaps did this: I say to myself, why this relentlessness on innocent people or children? She is and was only a child. That’s what hurts the most. What did she do ? What did the child experience before dying?“
Especially since this resident has just recently moved into the neighborhood: “I haven’t lived there long, I don’t know everyone. I found that it is still a relaxing place, and one that I like. But when a situation like this happens, we ask ourselves many questions.“, proclaims this participant in the rally.
