Ciliwung River Waterway targeted for completion in April. Residents hope that this water pipe can overcome flooding in Jakarta.
One of the residents of Bidara Cina Village, Surati (58), who was affected by the Ciliwung Sodetan project, welcomed the work on the Ciliwung sodetan that was being carried out again. Surati supports this project being carried out again because the area is no longer hit by major floods.
“As long as there is a project, there has never been a major flood because the river has become wide,” said Surati when met detikcom in Bidara Cina Village, Wednesday (23/1/2023).
Surati did not deny that the land acquisition process for her house had been difficult. In fact, he and other residents brought the case to court.
But finally he agreed after receiving compensation in the form of money which he is now using to rent a rented house which is still in Kampung Bidara Cina.
“(In the end they let it go) because it belongs to the government. The compensation is also right,” he said.
He hopes the project Ciliwung water pipe finish soon. According to him, the Ciliwung sewer will more or less reduce flooding.
“Yes (the project has an impact). In the past, every time it rained, it would flood, because I was on the edge myself,” he said.
“Maybe the government also sees that going everywhere is difficult,” he explained.
Asa Residents of Cipinang
Residents of Cipinang Besar, Jatinegara, East Jakarta (East Jakarta) have responded positively to the Ciliwung Sodetan project. Residents hope the project will be completed soon so that flooding will no longer disrupt residents’ activities.
“Our hope is that the sodetan will be completed so that community activities are not disrupted due to flooding,” said Zundan (62), a resident of Cipinang RT 01, RW 07, Jatinegara, East Jakarta when met detikcom on Wednesday (25/1).
Zundan assesses the project Ciliwung Sodetan This is beneficial for local residents. Especially, for residents who live in the Ciliwung River area. Cipinang Besar Village itself is an outlet or place for water to come out of the Ciliwung Sodetan project.
“Development that can be felt by the community, especially for people on the outskirts there,” he said.
