The ‘Yeongdeok Upcycling Art Festa’, which celebrates its 3rd anniversary this year and hosted by the Yeongdeok Culture and Tourism Foundation, is a resident-led art festival.
In particular, the opening parade was a spectacular event with the participation of about 400 people, including local residents who applied through a contest under the title of ‘Sunrise Parade’, local children from 9 town and village pungmul groups, Osipcheon Daycare Center, Yeongdeok Daycare Center, and Pureun Dream Children’s Center, and Yeongdeok Living Culture Club. achieves
Participants dressed in unique makeup and colors departed from the Yeongdeok Office of Education in Yeongdeok-eup, passed through Jungang-ro in the town, and performed a street performance for about 40 minutes to Deokgokcheon Stream, announcing the start of the Upcycling Art Festa and creating a festive atmosphere.

In addition to the opening parade, this year’s Upcycling Art Festa will feature a variety of exhibitions, performances, and experience programs over 9 days.
The works introduced in the upcycling art exhibition were created using recycled materials by about 500 people, including schools, social groups, village residents, and professional artists, and are expected to colorfully decorate the area along the Deokgok Stream.
In addition, various eco-friendly experience programs with the theme of environmental protection, such as upcycling silk screen, tow making, wishing lighthouse making, and eco bag making, will be held throughout the festival period.
In addition, eco-friendly food trucks that do not use disposable products and the Yeongdeok (Ana) Sea Flea Market, a sharing market where families can participate, will also be held.
In particular, this year, the ‘Yeongdeok Fun Box Race’, which involves running downhill in a non-powered car made from recycled materials, will be held on November 2nd (exhibition) and 3rd (main race).
This car competition, held on the hill next to Yeongdeok Yaseong Elementary School, is a special event that reflects the identity of ‘upcycling’, which means ‘upcycling’ rather than recycling, and 18 teams from all over the country compete with ingenious cars they have individually manufactured.
