Resident of Trelew Falls Victim to Identity Theft and Receives Debt Notice for Half a Million Pesos

In the last few hours, a resident of Trelew received an email from the Línea Naranja company informing her of a debt of more than half a million pesos. Alarmed by the situation and aware that she does not have a credit card with that entity, she contacted the number provided in the email.

However, his call resulted in a lack of information, so he decided to go in person to the Orange Card office in Trelew. There, he was informed that five purchases had been made in San Pedro, province of Jujuy, in his name. Categorically, the woman denied having a credit card, much less having made purchases in that location.

The debt figure amounts to $534,000, according to the card summary. The woman, an administrative employee who lives alone in the western area of Trelew, was intimated by the company to make the payment of this sum. To avoid this, she must take legal steps, including a report to the police and request assistance from the Consumer Protection Office.

The victim of this digital scam suspects that the criminals stole their identity to carry out these fraudulent transactions. The case is under investigation, as authorities track the card’s movements and activity to identify those responsible and help the woman recover her financial identity.
