Resident Evil will see more remakes » Vortex

The Resident Evil series enjoys unprecedented popularity and the remakes that Capcom has offered in recent years have found their way with gusto to former and brand new players alike. The remake of Resident Evil 4 from March this year was so successful that it seems to have helped the company to fulfill the set plan, and fans could also enjoy the Separate Ways expansion and the promised free VR Mode will arrive in a week, as Capcom announced yesterday. In the summer it was heard in Capcom that they were considering other remakes including unnumbered parts, not long after that the company itself offered a questionnaire to the players, what other remakes they would like. It was definitely not an unnecessary question, as we now learn that something else is indeed waiting for us.

Capcom decided to build on the success it had with the remakes, i.e. next to this year’s Resident Evil 4 is Resident Evil 2 from 2019 and Resident Evil 3 from 2020. The intention to continue developing remakes was confirmed by series director Jasuhiro Anpo during yesterday’s awards PlayStation Partner Awards 2023, where at the same time the Resident Evil 4 remake received the main prize together with Final Fantasy XVI and Genshin Impact. On this occasion, Anpo was asked about further plans and whether Capcom is indeed planning further installments, he states IGN Japan. “Yes. We have released three remakes so far and all three have been very well received,” Anpo replied. “Remakes give a modern audience the chance to play these games, and as a fan of older games, I love doing that and we want to continue to do that. We would like to announce the next game we will remake in the future, so stay tuned!” added Anpo, leaving more room for speculation and fan wishes.

One of the coveted titles is Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, which has been mentioned for years, but the first part was also among the favorites in the previously mentioned questionnaire, even though it already received a remake many years ago, so it cannot automatically be said that it will be immediately followed by the fifth part . So hopefully Capcom and the developers will confide as soon as possible, so we have something to look forward to.
