Capcom put the franchise back on the map with Resident Evil VII and that success seems to be extended to its successor. Resident Evil 8: Village has been out for a month or two now and it suits the title very well.
The Japanese publisher/developer has announced how many copies they have now been able to put away and that number is high: 4.5 million. This concerns both physically shipped copies and copies sold digitally.
