So far, Capcom has taken an interesting approach to remaking Resident Evil games, with each remake drastically changing the original game in one form or another. In particular, in the case of Resident Evil 3, released in 2020, this did not please some fans, many of whom were concerned that a similar approach had not been adopted for RE4. However, none of the major parts from the original Resident Evil 4 will be cut in the remake.
In a recent issue of EDGE magazine, the Resident Evil 4 development team confirmed that the island part, which was the final part of the game and has caused a lot of controversy over the years, will be featured in the remake.
The project development team apparently separated the three main parts of the game (village, castle and island) in the early stages of development, worked on them separately and then came together again to review and edit each other’s work .
Interestingly, the developers have also said that the island will feature “much more” than the original game, though they didn’t go into details. Given the significant change in tone and pace that the island brought with it in the original RE4, it will be interesting to see how it is used in the remake.
Not too long ago, it was confirmed that the remake would be as long as the original game, so the fact that none of the major parts have been cut isn’t a huge surprise.
Resident Evil 4 will be released on March 24 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The game has entered the final stages of development and Capcom is preparing to share more details about it ahead of release.
