Residence in Turkey – the authorities have reduced the quota for foreigners, including refugees

So, starting from July 1 this year, no more than 20% of foreigners will be able to live in each region of Turkey. About 1.2 thousand residential areas will be closed for settlement by migrants. This will also apply to those who seek asylum in Turkey.

“In order to prevent the concentration of foreigners in certain areas of our country, a total of 781 areas were closed to foreigners, in which the ratio of the number of foreigners to the total number of people exceeded 25%. The quota will be implemented at a rate of 20% from July 1,” the minister said. .

These measures are taken against the backdrop of growing public discontent with migrants.

Turkey is one of the main countries in the world accepting refugees. Among others, more than 3.7 million people from Syria found refuge in it.
