PERIODIC EXHIBITION AT THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF IOANNINES
On Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., the periodic exhibition “Vassilis Charisis. (By) creating spaces of life and history”. Vassilis Charisis is an important chapter in the post-war architectural physiognomy of the city of Ioannina and the wider region. His activity included, among others, studies of newly constructed buildings of a public nature (buildings: EHM, Tourist Pavilion, etc.), studies of documentation – restoration of ancient and Byzantine monuments (ancient theater of Dodoni, Holy Monastery of Duroutis of Ioannina, etc.) and studies of shaping and redevelopment of historical places (Dodoni, Souli, etc.), while his contribution to the establishment of a framework for the protection of traditional settlements and especially Zagori is considered to be of key importance.
The report is structured in three major sections:
I. Traditional settlements
II. Restoration
III. City
As part of the exhibition, episode 7 of the ERT 2 documentary series, directed by Nikos Papathanasiou, “Like a Fairy Tale” will be screened with the title: Vassilis Charisis-With the hammer of traditionas well as an excerpt of the interview given by Vassilis Charisis to the photographer of the Ephorate, Panagiotis Tsigoulis, in the context of the periodic exhibition organized at the Archaeological Museum of Ioannina for Sotiris Dakaris (2012).
