Reservation for shopping required tomorrow, but that is also allowed …

It is busy on the Meir on Friday, because tomorrow all non-essential stores have to close and receive customers after reservation

Starting tomorrow / Saturday, anyone wishing to visit a non-essential store must make a reservation first. But that does not have to be done hours in advance, even 30 seconds before you enter the store. That said Minister of the Interior Annelies Verlinden (CD&V) on Friday morning Radio 1.

Over the past two days, the non-essential stores have been busy setting up a reservation system. Because reservation is required from Saturday. But only today will there be clarity about exactly how this should be done with the publication of the ministerial decree. Earlier this morning, Minister of the Interior Annelies Verlinden gave up Radio 1 already indicates that, unlike in the Netherlands, we do not need to book four hours in advance.

When asked whether a reservation can be made at the door, so to speak, and then walk into the store a minute later, Verlinden answered that this is possible. “But, as is already the case, there will also be a limit on the number of people. It is therefore not the intention to create long queues in front of the shops, because people all want to book, ”she said.

Then open anyway

This is good news for shops that were still looking for a way to have the reservation system ready on time. Also for retail chain C&A, because initially the intention was to keep all stores closed on Saturday, because the platform for the reservations was not yet ready. “As a result of the recently amended guidelines, whereby pre-booking is not mandatory, we will still open our stores tomorrow”, it sounds.

Yesterday, stores such as JBC and Media Markt also indicated that they would apply this system. Who likes last minute want to shop can therefore register at the door.
