JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Astronomy and Astrophysics Researcher at the Space Research Center of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Andi Pangerang Hasanuddin, shared a number of tips for those of you who want to witness the phenomenon of parallel planets.
The phenomenon of aligned planets is a rare celestial phenomenon, in which five planets are aligned. The planets are Jupiter, Mercury, Venus, Uranus and Mars.
This parallel planet phenomenon takes place on March 27-28 2023 and can be witnessed by the people of Indonesia. This means that this is your last night to witness this celestial event.

One important thing that must be considered when you want to witness this parallel planet phenomenon is the choice of location. Andi said, a location that doesn’t have much light is a good location.
“So the best locations for observing the phenomenon of the sky parade of 5 planets in a row are mainly in locations where light pollution is still minimal, such as in rural areas or inland areas and on mountain slopes,” said Andi to Compass TVTuesday (28/3/2023).
“With the record that the mountain slopes are also far from the field of view, away from light pollution.”
Andi explained that astronomical phenomena require the best observation locations. Apart from not allowing light pollution, the level of cloud cover and the rate of evaporation of water also affect the observation process.
For the people of Jabodetabek, this parallel sky phenomenon can be witnessed in the Cisarua area, Bogor, the Bogor-Sukabumi border, the Thousand Islands, Tangerang Regency, the border of Serang-North Bekasi Regency, and South Bekasi.

“For Tangerang Regency itself, it is in the northern part of Teluk Naga, from Tangerang Regency to the border area with Serang Regency, such as Balaraja,” said Andi.
“For North Jakarta, the closest is the Thousand Islands Regency. It is also a very minimal light position, which can be an alternative location for the best visibility in observing the phenomenon of the sky parade of five planets in a row,” he concluded.
