Researchers from Ciego de Ávila expose studies on pineapple cultivation

The constant investigative work of the Bioplants Center of Ciego de Ávila was revealed in one of its last exhibitions on the search to improve agricultural products for consumption by the population and as exportable sources.

The young researchers Claudia Linares Rivero and Lianny Pérez Gómez showed a high scientific level with their results in the use of natural products in fertilization and the control of pests and diseases during the acclimatization phase of MD 2 pineapple vitroplants.

These results will be tested under field conditions, when the small plants begin to grow in the furrows of Avilanian lands, suitable for this type of cultivation.

The research actions corroborate the close relationships that exist between the Bioplants Center and productive companies in Avilanian agriculture, which represents a direct link between its laboratories and the fields, uniting science and productivity.

Making large productions of pineapple, in genetically improved varieties, will promote the agricultural growth of the province in its identifying product of that Cuban territory.

The Bioplants Center, attached to the Máximo Gómez Báez University, in Ciego de Ávila, stands out for its productive chain, as a generator of science applied to agriculture to achieve the commitment of the country’s food sovereignty.
