Researchers Find 5 Symptoms of People Who Have Been Vaccinated Then Positive for Covid

Sneezing and Headache

WARTAKEPRI.co.id – According to the United States (US) Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Covid-19 vaccine is the best way to protect people from becoming seriously ill due to the corona virus. The Covid-19 vaccine is also believed to prevent extended hospital stays and death.

However, no vaccine is 100 percent effective and although it is rare, fully vaccinated people can catch the coronavirus. These cases, known as breakthrough infections, can cause Covid-19-like symptoms or no symptoms at all.

Researchers behind Zoe’s Covid Symptom Study Studi found the five most common symptoms reported by those vaccinated against the virus were headache, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat and loss of smell.

Research looking at the symptoms of Covid-19 and tracking the spread of the virus was the brainchild of doctors and scientists at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, King’s College London and Stanford University School of Medicine. The researchers also collaborated with health science company Zoe for the report.

The study found vaccinated individuals experienced COVID-19 symptoms similar to those reported by people who had or had not had the shot. However, those who had the vaccine had fewer symptoms over a shorter period of time.

“This shows they are less seriously ill and get better faster,” the researchers wrote as reported on the Miami Herald website, Wednesday (07/21/2021).

The report also found that some symptoms, including a persistent cough, were more likely to occur in people who had received only one dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or had not been vaccinated at all.

“Surprisingly, we noticed that people who had been vaccinated and later tested positive for Covid-19 were more likely to report sneezing as a symptom compared to those who had not been injected,” the study authors wrote.

If you have been vaccinated and start sneezing a lot without explanation, you should have a Covid-19 test. Sneezing isn’t one of the Covid-19 symptoms noted by the CDC, but the updated list includes fever or chills, cough, fatigue, loss of new taste or smell, and sore throat. Symptoms usually appear two to 14 days after exposure, public health agencies say, and can be mild or severe.
