Researchers at the University of Houston recently developed a filter or filtration system that can directly neutralize and kill 99.8 percent corona virus Covid-19 in one screening.
The findings, published in Materials Today, state that air filter able to capture and kill Covid-19. This filtering system emits very hot air to kill Covid-19.
“This filter can be useful at airports and on airplanes, in office buildings, schools and cruise ships to stop the spread of Covid-19,” said study author Zhifeng Ren.
The study notes that the overall corona virus cannot withstand temperatures above 158 degrees. Therefore, the filtering system runs very hot up to 392 so it is said to be able to effectively kill the corona virus on contact.
The system itself consists mainly of nickel foam. Ren explained the use of nickel foam was the key because it helped the research team fulfill a number of integral design requirements.
“It’s porous and flexible allows air flow, and is electrically conductive, which allows it to be heated,” said Ren, who is also Professor of Physics at the University of Houston.
Reporting from BGR, the system itself cannot be juxtaposed with a vaccine against Covid-19. The discovery of an absolute vaccine to erase the Covid-19 pandemic from the face of the earth.
But the filtering system is useful if governments in various countries will move the wheels of the economy back by opening up various shopping centers and public facilities.
In addition, the research team believes that the tool will help improve safety in places where workers and individuals are highly vulnerable to viruses, such as in offices, schools, hospitals, to public transportation.
Reporting from KSATDuring the manufacture of the filter, the researchers said they found 99.8 percent of SARS-CoV-2 was killed one way through the filter. The filter also kills 99.9 percent of anthrax spores.
The researchers requested that the screening device be launched in stages. Launching starts in high priority places, where important workers are at high risk of contracting the virus.
