Researcher Stijn Thoolen wins National Geographic Photo Competition with spectacular plate of Antarctica | Inland

Imagine: it is -80 degrees Celsius, there is practically nowhere to go and most of the time it is dark. What are you doing then? Right, take pictures. Stijn Thoolen (31), who was born and raised in Oisterwijk in Brabant, was sent to the continent on behalf of the European Space Agency as a medical researcher. Between November 2019 and December 2020, he stayed, along with eleven others, in the French-Italian research station Concordia.
