Harianjogja.com, JAKARTA– Young people who have been infected with Corona according to studies have serious health problems.
A large number of young adults who are hospitalized with Covid-19 are likely to be at risk of serious and permanent damage to their health.
This is the result of a new study from Harvard University of 3,222 people aged 18 to 34 and requiring hospitalization.
They found that one in five participants needed intensive care.
Furthermore, the results showed 10 percent of the participants needed ventilator assistance, 2.7 percent died and 3 percent of patients needed ongoing care in ‘post-acute treatment’ facilities after the coronavirus had cleared their bodies.
On the other hand, last August, the World Health Organization (WHO) warned that young adults have a role in being the main spreaders of the virus for several countries.
Several Asian countries have experienced a spike in cases where people infected with Covid-19 tend to be young adults.
“People in their 20s, 30s and 40s are increasingly driving the spread,” said Takeshi Kasai, the World Health Organization’s West Pacific regional director.

The Harvard researchers also found comorbidities were more common among patients who had severe Covid-19 or, in fact, died.
Male patients are more likely than women to develop serious or life-threatening conditions.
“Given the steeply increasing rate of Covid-19 infection in young adults, these findings underscore the importance of infection prevention measures in this age group,” said the researcher, reported by Fox News.
