Research Says Flu Vaccination Prevents Risk of Hospitalization by 34.5 Percent: Okezone Health

PERMANENT the flu in the southern hemisphere is starting to subside. The latest data shows that this year’s flu vaccine is 34.5 percent effective in preventing people with the flu from needing hospital treatment.

According to a report from the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), up to 68.3 percent of those hospitalized were suffering from influenza type A (H3N2).

According to the findings of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report issue, Tuesday (8/10/2024) this vaccine has a protective effect that is consistent with the historical average against H3N2 disease, which is usually ‘ go from 24 percent to 43 percent.

Vaccination proved more effective among patients with the flu virus, with those who received the vaccine having a nearly 59 percent lower risk of hospitalization than those who did not receive the vaccine.

However, despite the high level of effectiveness, vaccination rates in the Southern Hemisphere are still low, with only around 21.3 percent of the population being vaccinated this year.
