Research Results, Nicotine Is Not a Trigger of Gingivitis

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Users of Other Tobacco Processing Products (HPTL) have a better immune response compared to other tobacco products smoker when there is an attack of bacteria in the oral cavity, especially the gums.

The response is in the form of inflammation in the form of bleeding or swelling of the gums.

This is evidenced through a study entitled “Gingival Response in Vape Users When Experiencing Gingivitis (Gingival Response in Vapers During Experimental Gingivitis)” conducted by academics from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Padjadjaran Amaliya and Agus Susanto, and Jimmy Gunawan.

“I want to see, if the one using vape How? So we conducted research on three groups,” Amaliya said when contacted by reporters, Friday (2/7/2021).

This study involved 15 respondents aged 18-25 years consisting of five women and 10 men.

Respondents were divided into three different groups with unequal gender distribution.

The three groups are smokers with a minimum smoking period of one year, exclusive vape users (not dualism vape and cigarette consumers) who have used vapes or switched to vapes with nicotine content for at least one year, and non-users of any tobacco products.

Before the study began, all respondents went through a thorough plaque cleaning process first.

Then, the respondents were asked to use an acrylic stent in the lower jaw for 21 days of the study period.
