The research grants are endowed with 8,000 euros each and are paid in 1-2 selectable installments from September to December 2021. The scholarships are intended for the artistic / curatorial development of professionally working artists, curators and artistic or curatorial groups in the field of visual arts in Berlin who live in Berlin and who have distinguished themselves through their work.
The artistic / curatorial development particularly requires the opportunity to develop new ideas and approaches. Criteria for the award of a scholarship are primarily the quality of previous artistic work and the quality of the research and work project.
Students are excluded from the award of the scholarships.
The previous application ban for artists who applied for the research grant in 2020 has been lifted for the 2021 research grant. The aim is for all artists living in Berlin who have the requirements to apply (see information under target group, purpose of funding and requirements) due to the restrictions on their artistic activity due to the containment of the spread of the corona virus SARS-CoV-2 to participate in the procedure.
