Research and innovation

Innovations follow each other quickly. There is great interest in innovations that improve the quality of life and demand from (future) clients for this innovative support is growing. Together with universities, colleges and other knowledge and training institutions, Pieter van Foreest works on the future by sharing knowledge, conducting research and implementing new perspectives.

University Network for the Care Sector (UNC-ZH)

The University Network for the South Holland Care Sector (UNC-ZH) is a partnership between the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) and eleven health care centers in South Holland, including Pieter van Foreest. The UNC-ZH initiates, facilitates and conducts scientific research related to health care. The goal of the scientific research collaboration is to improve the quality of life of clients who are dependent on care, to improve the quality of care and to create a bridge between intramural care and outside care. To do this, a mechanism is needed to establish a link between the LUMC and the member organizations. One of these resources is the Scientific Research Committee.

Scientific Research Committee (WOC)

The scientific research committee is made up of staff from various disciplines within Pieter van Foreest. Together they ensure that policy is developed in the field of scientific research and applied research. What topics need to be studied, how can we improve the quality of life of our clients, can we confirm these improvements through scientific research and how can we implement new knowledge as part of our daily work? Just a few questions that the WOC addresses. Not only are they involved in policy making, but they also encourage staff to suggest research topics, support in making proposals and applying for money to do the research. Finally, they monitor the implementation of the research, ensure commitment and make sure that new knowledge is implemented correctly according to the latest scientific perspectives.

Medical Life Lab Care Robotics

Living Lab is a testing ground where technology and seniors meet. It is a network of public and private organizations that jointly examine whether and what technology will support the elderly. One of the promising technologies here is healthcare robots. Robotics technology can be used to develop products and services to improve self-reliance, home care, within residential care centers and to improve rehabilitation. Pieter van Foreest is one of the health care providers who have expressed their intention for further collaboration.

Technical innovation

The growth for technical innovation is enormous. Pieter van Foreest likes to be a testing ground for finding, helping to develop or testing useful innovations. We often do this with startups.
