Rescuers and helicopters from the region help in flood areas – Freiburg

The rescue helicopter stationed in Freiburg flies operations in the Aachen area. Other rescue workers from the Freiburg area are also on their way to the flood areas.

The first rescue workers from Freiburg and the region have been in action in North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate since Thursday. More helpers made their way in the evening. A total of 25 emergency ambulances were sent from the Freiburg administrative district to the flood areas. These include two ambulances and a guide vehicle from the DRK district associations in Freiburg and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald.

Rescue helicopter Christoph 54 is also used

In addition to the DRK, the Maltese and Johanniter are also participating in rescue operations in the cities and villages that were massively affected by the flood disaster, reported the Freiburg DRK board member Jochen Hilpert on Friday.

The rescue helicopter Christoph 54, stationed in Freiburg, has also been in use since Thursday. With the crew and winch rescuers from the Black Forest mountain rescue service, the helicopter helped out in the Aachen area, including the evacuation of the hospital in Eschweiler, according to the mountain rescue service and German air rescue service. The DLRG Baden has meanwhile also been put on pre-alarm readiness.
