This Saturday, April 8, it was learned that the rescue work at the “Antonio Guiteras” thermoelectric plant continues with a motorized team.
Through social networks, it was learned that a motorized team from Havana has arrived at the “Antonio Guiteras” thermoelectric plant to continue the rescue work after the collapse that kept a worker buried inside.
“It is not possible to advance further inside the collapse, because there is a danger of a rubble landslide, which endangers the integrity of the rescuers. For this reason, with the help of the mobile equipment that has a rotating shear, two access points will be opened that will alleviate the amount of soot and stones inside the chimney and will also allow a clearer vision of the area,” wrote Edmundo Dantés Junior in his Facebook account.

In this way, the rescue process is expected to be more efficient and safe for the rescuers involved in the operation. The work had been temporarily stopped this morning to protect the physical integrity of the rescuers, since there was a risk of additional collapse of the rubble accumulated in the area.
“It is necessary to separate from the exterior areas, the waste that has already been extracted from the interior of the structure and to cool the high voltage lines so that the equipment (the same one that was used in the Saratoga) can operate safely,” he added. Dantes.
It should be noted that, so far, the fourth worker has not yet been found and the search work continues at the site. The presence of this motorized team can be crucial to achieving the goal of finding the missing worker and ensuring the safety of rescuers.
