The Mülheim an der Ruhr fire brigade was alerted to Mintarder Strasse this morning with the keyword “person in the water”. At the same time, forces from the rescue service, the police and the DLRG were requested.
For unknown reasons, a female paddler capsized with her canoe on the Ruhr near the landing stage of the White Fleet. The person could not get out of the water on their own because they had gotten caught with their canoe and paddles. However, she was able to stay afloat and call for help.
A crew member of the first ambulance to arrive immediately jumped into the water, secured the canoeist and later brought her to shore. There she could be rescued from the water with combined forces. The slightly injured woman was then handed over to the emergency services for further treatment. A state police helicopter, which was also alerted, no longer had to be active. (CSch)
