Many Reunionese resell PS5s on resale sites like Marketplace or Leboncoin at a high price. The goal is to make a profit on their Christmas gifts as evidenced by this reseller:
“I don’t necessarily need a PS5, if I can sell it for double its price that would be great! Even if it’s still a Christmas present, nothing prevents me from doing it”, he explains.
Indeed, the PS5, the last console from Sony, is not available in video game stores despite its celebrating its one year anniversary. This pushes smart kids to speculate on the price of these consoles, which can sometimes reach up to 1,200 euros with a controller and a game.
According to a video game store in Saint-Denis, several thousand Reunionese are still on the reservation list to have the Sony console at an affordable price.
