Member Commission III of the DPR Benny K Harman questioned the motive Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md revealed the Rp 300 trillion issue related to the Ministry of Finance which was suspected TPPU. Benny wanted to know if there was a political motive for Mahfud Md to corner people at the Ministry of Finance.
This was stated by Benny during a meeting with PPATK at Commission III of the DPR, Senayan complex, Jakarta, Tuesday (21/3/2023). During his interruption, Benny asked the Head of PPATK Ivan Yustiavandana whether or not there was a motive to corner people behind the narrative.
“To make it clear he has a narrative so he has no intention of cornering anyone? None? So I asked further, after earlier it was reported to the President and you don’t know whether your report is already on Mr President’s desk? Have you ever been asked by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs in his position so that you report the case that occurred in the Ministry of Finance? Have you?” said Benny.
Ivan then answered the narrative of the odd transaction that started when Mahfud asked for the results of Rafael Alun Trisambodo’s (RAT) financial analysis. The issue is rolling, Mahfud is said to have asked for another case analysis report.
“In the initial framework it was related to the RAT, he asked for clarification whether we had sent the results of the analysis or not, because there was an issue regarding whether the large LHKPN had existed. Then moving on to other issues, issues flexing other. Then I said it had been there. We have never submitted a document on the results of his analysis and then he asked for a list in general,” said Ivan.
Benny again emphasized to Ivan regarding Mahfud Md’s request regarding the alleged Rp. 300 trillion money laundering crime case.
“My question, please really answer what I asked, don’t go anywhere we get confused. So I ask whether the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs in his position asked you to specifically hand over the case of ‘illegal’ funds at the Ministry of Finance?” Benny said.
“Yes, asking for confirmation related to list all aggregate,” replied Ivan.
“What did you say when he asked?” Benny chimed in.
“We made the aggregate and delivered it to him,” said Ivan in response.
Benny then questioned Mahfud Md’s disclosures to the public about the Rp 300 trillion odd transaction. Benny asked Ivan the basis for allowing Mahfud Md to open the data. If not, Benny suspects that there is a political motive behind the disclosure of the data.
“Then he announced to the public, you know?” said Benny.
“I know,” said Ivan.
“Is that okay?” Benny asked again.
“I think I can,” said Ivan.
