Earlier this week, Republicans in the US Senate blocked the proposal for emergency aid to Ukraine. It happened after a bitter dispute between the republicans and the democrats in the country, at the same time as a debate is ongoing in several western countries about further support for the country.
On Sunday, the big newspapers broadcast BBC an exclusive interview with Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska.

– Will let us die
Avisa has published extracts from the interview in which the first lady pleads with the world to continue supporting the war-torn country.
Zelenska warns that Ukrainians are in “mortal danger” and left to die, if Western countries do not continue their support, the BBC writes.
The aid proposal that was voted down in the US would have given Ukraine more than 60 billion US dollars. Corresponding to over NOK 650 billion.
– If the world gets tired, they will simply let us die, says Zelenska in the interview.
Furthermore, she says that it is a question of life and that it pains her to see signs that the will to help may disappear.
Here in Norway, the debate surrounding support for Ukraine is also current.
Venstre leader Guri Melby expressed concern about the situation on Saturday.
– Putin gets a hard package for Christmas
– Deeply serious
– I am afraid that we are in the process of normalizing the situation. I would strongly warn against that. Now we are heading for another cold winter, the Russians are attacking the energy grid, there is great insecurity and a crying need, said Melby, adding:
– The situation in Ukraine is deeply serious and there are signs that Putin’s forces are gaining ground. Ukraine is not getting enough equipment and they are not getting enough ammunition. If the Ukrainians do not get increased support, they are going to lose, is the clear warning from Melby.
In an interview with the German TV channel ARD last weekend, Jens Stoltenberg stated that the world must be prepared for bad news from the Ukrainian front, but underlined the importance of support.
– We must support Ukraine in both good and bad times, he said.
