Republican governors of 25 states accused the current administration of US President Joe Biden of unwillingness to protect the American border and fight illegal migration. This is stated in a statement by the governors published on Thursday on the website of the Republican Governors Association.
“President Biden and his administration have left Americans and the country completely vulnerable to an unprecedented surge of illegal migrants crossing the southern border. Instead of upholding the law and protecting the border, the Biden Administration is attacking and suing Texas for actions to protect American citizens from historic levels of illegal immigration, deadly drugs and terrorists entering the United States,” the statement said.
The governors also supported the actions of the Texas state authorities, who intend to independently protect a section of the US-Mexico border from the invasion of illegal migrants if the US federal authorities are unable to cope with this task.
Earlier, the former US President also announced support for Texas Governor Greg Abbott Donald Trump.
On January 22, Fox News reported that the US Supreme Court had decided to remove a 30-mile (about 48 km) wire fence on the US-Mexico border in Texas, installed as part of Abbott’s fight against the influx of migrants. The court’s ruling allows the Border Patrol to cut wire along the border during the trial.
The Texas National Guard blocked the access of federal border guards to a section (about 4 km long) of the border with Mexico along the Rio Grande River. State authorities have repeatedly stated that the US administration does not properly guard the border, which has led to an increase in illegal migrants. Texas began sending them on buses to major American cities, including Washington, New York and Chicago.
