Reproductive Health and Population Increase Awareness Symposium at Sohag University

The Youth Welfare Department at the Faculty of Archeology at Sohag University, in cooperation with the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, organized an awareness symposium entitled “Awareness of reproductive health and the dangers of population increase,” in which Dr. Ahmed Fathi El-Nahhas, Director General of University Hospitals, lectured, in Dr. Ahmed El-Sawy Hall at the college’s headquarters on the new university campus. In the presence of Dr. Ahmed Al-Ansari, Vice Dean of the College for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and a number of faculty members, workers and students at the College.

Dr. Hassan Al-Noamani, President of the University, praised the topic of the symposium, which comes within the framework of the state’s approach to working to develop the Egyptian family and provide a decent life for citizens, by dealing with various population issues, the most important of which is the challenge of population increase, and its negative impact on development by raising rates of unemployment and poverty, stressing that The importance of contributing to supporting the state’s efforts in building community awareness in general and university awareness in particular about the issue of reproductive health and family planning as it is among the state’s priorities to reduce population growth rates and create a successful family.

For his part, Dr. Fahim Hegazy, Dean of the College, stressed that the topic of the symposium is consistent with the directive of the political leadership on the necessity of confronting the challenge of population increase, so that sustainable development in all its dimensions can be achieved, indicating that its aim is not only to present information on reproductive health and the dimensions it contains, but rather The population issue includes negative aspects and impacts in general, such as the negative impact of population increase on economic growth.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Nahhas pointed out that this symposium comes within the initiative of the Community Service and Environmental Development Sector to spread education and community awareness of reproductive health and family planning, as the symposium addressed the definition of reproductive health and its various stages, awareness of the dangers of early marriage, in addition to talking about the pre-marital medical examination initiative, He presented the most important stages of reproductive health, as well as explaining the types of family planning methods.
