This was stated by the leader of “Voice of the People” Svetoslav Vitkov. He, together with representatives from the United People’s Party, VMRO, Movement 21, the Greens gathered in front of the “Arena Armeets” hall, where for more than 24 hours protocols have been handed over and ballots from the local vote have been counted.
I am here to support the people who are inside, said Emil Mechekyan from the EPP. According to him, the organization of these elections is indicative of the way the country is run, and the hostages inside are not guilty of anything, but they are put to do their work in inhumane conditions.
We are here to express solidarity with the people who are inside and on the other hand, to express indignation at the organization that is in these elections on the part of the CEC and the Government, as well as Sofia Municipality. We also suspect that this situation is being used to cover up possible manipulations of the result, said Daniel Georgiev, deputy chairman of Movement 21.
In any case, this situation is the result of either a ridiculous situation or some design. Once again, Bulgaria looks like a country that is not ready for the modern world and modern technologies. This was stated by Ivan Velkov – chairman of the pre-election headquarters of the “Greens”.
He pointed out that the “Greens” have always been of the same opinion that innovations in such a situation should help people, and in “Arena Armeets” people are witnessing a stubborn rejection of everything normal.
According to Venci Mitsov from “Voice of the People”, what is happening in the hall is a wonderful argument for the fact that electronic voting should happen.
Regarding whether these elections should be canceled, Mitsov said that they will decide when the final results come out. “We are currently at 37% for Sofia. This is ridiculous. 24 hours have passed since the elections”, he declared. In addition, according to him, the referendum should have been separated from the local elections, because holding them together would have led to greater chaos.
“If the CEC can’t, they should hire someone to organize their work”, added Vitkov and stated that he was curious what would happen in the parliament, where the introduction of electronic voting would be discussed.
Movement 21 is still summarizing the signals it receives from the capital and the country, and the position of the movement will be announced tomorrow, explained Georgiev, specifying that such chaos creates doubts, at the very least, and no one is convinced that there is no interference and an attempt to manipulate the elections.
With the final results, they will indicate whether the “Greens” will also want to cancel the elections, it became clear from Velkov’s words. According to him, it is a fact that the parties represented in the parliament, which have the privilege of appointing the members of the election commissions, turn against them like a boomerang, because their representatives are currently detained in the hall.
“It is high time in Bulgaria that people learn that responsibility is borne and that someone resigns. Well, this is a great case to see some resignations, and not a few,” Mitsov added.
Mechekyan stated that the CEC should not be held responsible for holding the elections, because they are not responsible for it. “There is a ministry, then by regions and by municipalities, i.e. if one has to find fault somewhere for this organization, then it should be done along this chain”, he stated.
Given that these elections are worse organized than the previous ones, not only resignations are needed, but also someone to take responsibility”, stated Vitkov.
According to Georgiev, not only the resignation of the people from the CEC is necessary, but also the legislators in the parliament.
This clerical approach must remain in history, Velkov was also categorical.
