/ world today news/ Representatives of “THE LEFT!” met with Yen Jienjun, Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Head of the Mission of the People’s Republic of China in Sofia. The focus of the meeting was on party-level relations between the “LEFT!” and the Chinese Communist Party, peace and security issues in the Balkans and the Black Sea region. On the Chinese side, the conviction was expressed that the world should not be allowed to be drawn into a new Cold War. The Black Sea must remain a zone of peace and not become a scene of hostilities, and the responsibility for this lies with the countries that are part of the Black Sea basin and border it.
Within the framework of the meeting, an agreement was reached regarding the need for a new dynamic of Bulgarian-Chinese relations and a desire to expand the volume of Chinese investments in Bulgaria was expressed. Bulgaria is seen as an important country, a member of the European Union, with an extremely favorable location for the development of transport corridors, and therefore the Chinese side has confirmed its interest in the construction of large objects of the transport infrastructure. Yen Jientjun emphasized China’s will to overcome the consequences of the Covid-19 restrictions imposed on bilateral relations and to fill the vacuum left by the pandemic.
The two sides emphasized the mutual interest in the development of common political, cultural and educational initiatives, in building a mechanism for training and preparing the composition of “THE LEFT!”bilateral exchange of experience, as well as familiarization with the structure and construction of socialism with Chinese specifics.
