The departure is approaching for Enola Briand and the Marigo family duo formed by Cindy, the daughter, and Gilles, the father. Friday, February 17, 2023, these representatives of Fitness Force Plougastel will take off in the direction of Toulon to participate in the French bench press championships.
At the beginning of December, each in their weight category had won the qualification to go to the south but also the title of champion and champions of Brittany in Dinard by lifting 50 kg for Enola (category – 47 kg), 66 kg for Cindy (in – 57 kg) and 117 kg for his father (- 59 kg). Gilles will put his title back into play this weekend since he is already French Master 2 champion. He is aiming directly for the podium but admits having a “serious competitor opposite who is also aiming for the international stage”.
“Regular and motivated” girls
Gilles Marigo also wears the cap of girls’ coach and is particularly proud of his protégés who go directly to the national level when they both start in competition. A nice result that is not without sacrifice. “The girls are regular and motivated. We do four training sessions a week, including one every weekend. Maintaining weight is the most complicated, especially for Enola who is right on the edge of the category. So, we do nutrition to be on a healthy basis”.
Enola confesses that this monitoring is sometimes a bit heavy, but “it’s a blessing in disguise, the coach is right. We will catch up after France”. Promised, the past competition, a deserved burger awaits this extraordinary team.
