As an opportunity to project Colombian cinema on a global level, allow dialogue between agents in the sector and expand the exchange of experiences that contribute to its strengthening, from October 9 to 12, 2024, Bogotá will receive the highest audiovisual and cinematographic authorities of 22 Latin American countries and Italy, to carry out the ordinary meetings of the CAACI and the Ibermedia Program.
These two spaces will also be held to strengthen the ties of cooperation in the film industry in the region, make decisions that contribute to the development of the sector and contribute to the reduction of the great gaps that the world has through work. cinematographic and audiovisual.
There are 30 representatives of the 22 member countries of the Conference of Audiovisual and Cinematographic Authorities of Ibero-America – CAACI who will visit the Colombian capital: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras , Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela, in addition to Italy as a guest country.
The objective of the CAACI, as an international organization, is to contribute to the development of cinematography within the audiovisual space of Ibero-American countries based on cooperation, equitable participation and the principles of integration in the region.
For its part, the Intergovernmental Committee of the Ibermedia Program seeks to promote the co-production and co-development of fiction, documentary and animation films and series, made in a community made up of 23 Latin American countries and Spain, Portugal and Italy.
Work agenda
For three days, the international guests will have meetings to work in an articulated manner using international mechanisms, co-production agreements and other instruments that facilitate the development of cinema in Colombia and Latin America. Furthermore, as part of the commitments of the Ibermedia Program, it is expected to distribute the fund to Ibero-American and Italian projects in the modalities in force by 2024.

As part of the agenda, the Ministry of Culture will facilitate a meeting of the authorities of the CAACI with the National Council of Arts and Culture in Cinematography – CNACC, to establish bridges that allow expanding opportunities for creation, co-production, distribution and industry training.
Topics around audiences, diversity and networks of Ibero-American cinema will also be addressed in dialogue tables in which Proimágenes Colombia will participate, which will also present the Tarot of Colombian Cinema, one of the actions that was carried out within the framework of the commemoration of the 20 years of the Film Law in Colombia, held in 2023.
The Colombian Film Promotion Commission, for its part, will have a space with the authorities to identify articulation options that promote the development of joint actions and encourage filming in different territories of the region.
All activities will be carried out within the framework of the tenth edition of the Bogotá International Film Festival – BIFF, so that guests can learn about the diversity of Colombian cinematography and experience different cultural expressions of the country.
