Angela Aicher traveled to the United Nations in New York as a representative for the Lions Club Freilassing Salzburger Land. There she meets high-ranking representatives of the international Lions organization at the UN headquarters.

Freilassing/New York – Lions Clubs International is the largest non-profit non-governmental organization (NGO) working with the United Nations.
The relationship between LCI and the United Nations began after the end of World War II in 1945, when US President Harry Truman asked LCI founder Melvin Jones if LIONS International would assist in the development of the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Charter for the United Nations would like. Lions Clubs International was an established global service organization long before the United Nations. Since then, the two organizations have collaborated on many humanitarian endeavors. Examples include UNICEF (United Nations Children’s Fund), WHO (World Health Organization), UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) and The Special Olympics..
During the event, the prizewinner (Grand Prize Winner) of the International Peace Poster Competition 2022-23 announced. Emma Andreea Paveliuc (13) old from Romania with the caption: “Proceed with compassion”
Keaton Hamilton, a 12-year-old visually impaired boy from Ontario, Canada, has his ideas in his by Lions International award-winning essay entitled “Friends as Leaders” to illustrate his ideas for the world’s eyes of what is right.
The Lions International Peace Essay Contest was created to give young people with visual impairments the opportunity to express their feelings for peace. He is an integral part of Lions clubs around the world.
“I am fortunate to live in a country where I feel safe, comfortable and supported,” Hamilton said on the subject of peace. “I don’t have to worry about food, shelter and security. I wish everyone would feel safe and comfortable in the world.”
