Books – Ahmad Al-Jazzar:

A local newspaper in New York reported that the famous producer Harvey Weinstein, 68, known medialy as “the Hollywood harasser,” was infected with the new Corona virus, and was isolated inside a prison serving a 23-year sentence, on charges of sexual assault and rape of the third degree.

The former film producer is being held at Wendy Prison, in northern New York. Although the prison administration did not officially announce his injury, an officer who refused to reveal his name confirmed the injury to Reuters news agency, which was quoted by BBC Arabic.

Variety magazine reported that Weinstein’s spokesperson and lawyer said: “We have no information about the Weinstein test, and they cannot confirm the report.”

While the New York Department of Prisons and Community Supervision confirmed that out of 43,000 inmates in custody, only two cases were confirmed, while the administration declined to disclose if Wayansett was one of both cases, due to the privacy policy imposed.

The newspaper “Niagara Gazette” said in a report that officials associated with the state’s prison system had spoken to her anonymously, because they were not allowed to talk about the condition of the famous product.

The newspaper pointed out that Weinstein had already contracted the virus by the time he entered state prisons, as Weinstein was transferred, last Wednesday, from the Rikers Island prison, located in the New York quarter of Queenser, which he had entered since his conviction on March 11, to Wendy prison in north New York.

Prior to his transfer, Weinstein was receiving treatment at Manhattan Hospital for heart pain, high blood pressure, and chest diseases.

Weinstein was found guilty in New York of sexual assault and rape charges, and continues to face charges of sexual assault in California.

About 90 women accuse the Oscar-winning producer of harassment and sexual abuse, including Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gwyneth Paltrow and Ashley Gad.
