Several people are said to have been killed in a mass shooting in Los Angeles, local media reports.
The shooting happened shortly after 10.30pm Saturday – 7.30am Sunday Norwegian time – reports BNO News.
The first reports are that a dozen people have been shot and that several of them have died. The news website says there has so far been no official confirmation of any specific figures.
Two witnesses say they heard shooting, but at first they thought it was fireworks in connection with the Chinese New Year, which is celebrated in the area.

The celebration in Monterey Park – which has a large proportion of residents of Chinese descent – is one of the largest in the region. Tens of thousands of visitors were expected during the two-day holiday, writes the LA Times.
According to RMG News, the suspected shooter is still at large.
The injured are said to have been transported to several different hospitals in the area.
