– When we were notified of the threat, we immediately moved out to the man’s residential address to check if it was a real threat. We quickly found out that he had no weapon, and that there was no danger that what the man said would be taken seriously.
Knut Endreseth, section leader at Kristiansund police station, told Dagbladet, after the police were contacted by the air tower at Kristiansund airport on 5 May.
A man believed that a helicopter on its way out to the North Sea had flown too low over his property, and that he wanted to shoot down the next helicopter that flew too low.
It was Time Requirements who first mentioned the review.
– I have never experienced anything like this, Endreseth says to Dagbladet.
Investigating both parties
Shortly after the police arrived at the man’s home, he put the cards on the table himself.
– He admitted that he had come with the threat, and that it had been said in anger, but he still stood his ground and thought that the helicopter had flown too low. To find out if this is true, we also collect data from the flight to see if the helicopter has actually flown too low, says Endreseth.
