NBA fans got an early Christmas present on Thursday, and it wasn’t just the Serbia-USA thriller at the Olympics.
Shams Charania of The Athletic revealed the list of games for Christmas Day, one of the most important days on the NBA calendar.
The festivities will be heightened by huge rivalry matchups between the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers on the East Coast, and then the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors in the West.
The New York Knicks, a mainstay on Christmas Day, will take on the San Antonio Spurs and phenom Victor Wembanyama in the first of their many holiday matchups. This will also be the only interconference game of the day.
Two other potential future faces of the league will also square off, as Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks will face off against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Then, to top it off, reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets will take on Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns in a rematch of their Christmas Day 2022 matchup.
If fans want an early look at the teams likely to win the title in June, the last five champions have all made appearances in that season’s Christmas Day game.
The full NBA season schedule has not yet been released, but last season, the NBA released full rosters on August 17.
