Report Rejected, ICW Asks Bareskrim to Read More KPK Law

Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) vote on the decision Police Criminal Investigation who do not continue the complaint of alleged violation of the law with the reported Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar.

Previously, the Director of General Crimes (Dirtipidum) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Brigadier General Andi Rian Djajadi, said that the complaints submitted by ICW were the domain of the KPK.

ICW researcher, Kurnia Ramadhana, asked the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to order the Dittipidum Polri ranks to read the KPK Law.

He explained that the KPK only handles corruption crimes, while the complaint against Lili relates to the KPK Law. According to him, the police have the authority to investigate this matter.

“ICW suggested to the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to ask his staff, in particular the Dirtipidum Bareskrim Polri, to carefully read the duties and authorities of the KPK as regulated in Law 30/2002 and Law 19/2019,” said Kurnia, Saturday (11/9).

The alleged violation of Lili’s law reported by ICW is related to Article 36 paragraph 1 Jo Article 65 of the KPK Law regarding the prohibition of KPK commissioners having direct contact with parties who are suing in the KPK.

According to Kurnia, Lili’s alleged violation of the law is clear when referring to the decision of the KPK Supervisory Board. At that time, Lili was considered proven to have communicated with the litigants in this case the Mayor of Tanjungbalai City, M. Syahrial.

In fact, Lili was sentenced to severe sanctions in the form of a 40 percent salary cut for 12 months.

“These kinds of things should be understood by law enforcement, especially at the level of the Dirtipidum Bareskrim Polri,” said Kurnia.
