Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly planning to rely on five Chelsea players in particular as he is set to be appointed as the club’s new manager.
Pochettino spoke with the Chelsea hierarchy recently and will be officially announced as Frank Lampard’s successor later this week, according to the Daily Mirror.

The former Tottenham manager will take over this summer and will seek to streamline Chelsea’s bloated squad of more than 30 players.
The Argentinian, however, has indicated five players he wants to keep and integrate into his squad for the future.
N’Golo Kanté is out of contract at the end of the season and it has been debated whether he will receive the lucrative long-term lease he has been waiting for, given the injuries that have limited the 32-year-old to only six Premier League starts this season.
Pochettino is keen to ‘build from the back’ and believes Chelsea have a number of defenders who can fit into their squad, including Benoit Badiashile, Reece James, Ben Chilwell and Levi Colwill, who impressed while on loan at Brighton this season.
What are Pochettino’s plans for his squad?
Chelsea will focus on sales this summer after spending more than £600million on players since the arrival of Todd Boehly last year.
The likes of Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang are likely to be offered, while Mason Mount could be sold as he has yet to extend his contract which expires next summer.
Pochettino hopes to sign a goalkeeper, striker and central midfielder this summer, with a preference for players playing in the Premier League.
The names of David Raya and Ivan Toney, two Brentford players, have been mooted as options, but any arrival is likely to depend on Chelsea’s ability to reduce the size of their squad and raise money through sales, due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.
