(Report) Manchester City pulls away from Liverpool at the top and Chelsea recovers

Manchester City moved away from Liverpool FC at the top of the English Premier League on Saturday, following a 2-1 win over Brentford and a 1-0 defeat by Nottingham Forest on Matchday 4, while Chelsea FC extended their recovery with a 1-0 win at AFC Bournemouth. At the Etihad Stadium, Pep Guardiola’s men started behind on the scoreboard due to a Yoane Wissa header in the opening seconds of the match. However, Norwegian striker Erling Haaland got going, equalising in the 19th minute with a right-footed shot inside the opposition box, having quickly pounced on a loose ball. After the half-hour mark, Haaland himself scored the final 2-1 after getting away from a defender on a long pass from home goalkeeper Ederson; City’s number 9 stepped into the area and, in front of the goalkeeper, chipped the ball with his left foot. With this result, the blue club from Manchester moved up to 12 points in the lead and took advantage of Liverpool’s slip-up. Not in vain, the ‘reds’ wasted several opportunities to score and gave the Anfield stands a shock when, midway through the second half of the match, they conceded 0-1 thanks to Callum Hudson-Odoi on a counterattack and after a good finish with his right foot. Nottingham Forest now has eight points, just one more than Chelsea. To close the Saturday round in English football, the ‘blues’ took the victory at the Vitality Stadium thanks to a solitary goal from Christopher Nkunku. In the 86th minute, he received a pass from Jadon Sancho inside the rival area and, after a rebound in his attempt to dribble, Nkunku scored with a toe shot to the far post of the goalkeeper. –RESULTS AND PROGRAM OF DAY 4. -Saturday.
