Report: Juan Soto is still willing to negotiate with the Nationals

The cornerstone of a rebuilding in Washington is John Soto. Although the Dominican already rejected an offer during the offseason, will still hear offers from the Nationals.

In an interview for Washington Post, the 23-year-old outfielder reported that he and his agent, Scott Boras, are willing to listen the economic proposals of the capital organization.

“Whenever they want to talk, they can talk to Scott. They have his number, they can call every day. They can trade every day if they want and I have no problem with that. I’ll be playing, he’ll let me know when they talk. That is all”.

Soto’s words come hours after it was reported that the star outfielder turned down a second proposal. Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post reported that the Dominican did not take a contract that exceeded the 350 million dollars that the Nationals proposed prior to the start of the season.

In the event that an agreement with Soto does not materialize, it is speculated that the Nationals would come off of the player before the end of this month. For its part, Washington management has denied that they will trade for the island patrol boat.

Key element

Although Soto has not been the most effective in the batter’s box this year (.225 average), the Dominican has shown quality in his swings by being Washington’s leader in home runs (14) and his OPS (.816) is second-highest on the Nats.
