The AC Milan players have had a very cruel evening. The Italian team played against Athletics more than an hour in the weak and held the lead for a long time, however in the end they did not get a point. The victory of the Spanish team was decided by a penalty whistle in the fourth minute of the setting. Luis Suárez transformed it.
Practically until the exclusion of Franck Kessiý, there was only one team on the field. AC Milan played the Spanish juice, although not from the beginning. The first fifteen minutes offered only Llorente’s contact with Hernández, after which the penalty was never whistled. The Milanese then sank under the cauldron and the roaring San Siro saw the first opportunities.
Brahim Díaz’s stress-free kick ended up in the arms of Oblak and in the 19th minute Ante Rebić burned a 100 percent chance. The Croatian striker was fantastically pulled out by Díaz and the independent advance ended with the intervention of Oblak and for Milan only with a corner kick. After him, the Rossoneri created further pressure and Rafael Leão with a hard cross shot repulsed the Milan euphoria – 1: 0! The AC leadership was well deserved.
Atlético didn’t get a word in the 27th minute, but he overshot Kondogbia in an interesting position. Milan had the upper hand, but then came a great complication. Franck Kessié came on, Cüneyt Çakır had to leave the fray. The Rossoneri could protest as they wished, but the expulsion of Ivory Coast midfielder was irreversible.
It was a welcome opportunity for Atlético to finally get into the match, and Diego Simeone supported it with an interesting substitution, when he withdrew Trippier’s defender and replaced him with an offensive Felix. Even before that, Atlético survived Leã’s big chance. The skillful Portuguese worked the ball back to the goal and scored the keeper with a spectacular scissors kick. It was a great football moment and a great pity for AC Milan. At the set time of the first half, another Portuguese, João Félix, attracted himself and fired up close without preparation. Milan people went to the locker rooms in the lead 1: 0, but after the change of sides, a real shift awaited them.
Diego Simeone reached for another break during the break and sent Lodi and De Paul into play. The latter came to the Spanish capital from Udinese and knows the environment of Italian football well. Due to the numerical superiority, the arrival of Atlética’s chances could be expected. With 54 minutes played, the visitors could have drawn level after Luis Suárez came through the middle, but his kick went wide. Unattended, he headed in the lime next to him.
San Siro took a deep breath, but only for a moment. After an hour of play came a quick attack and ending, which also ended outside Maignan’s shrine. Not even De Paul’s shot could fit between the three bars, and after seventy minutes the situation remained the same.
Milan gradually dug in front of its own sixteen and fiercely defended the Atlética raids. In the 77th minute, Maignan was tested by Lemar and seven minutes later Colchoneros finally got to. Lodi returned the ball to the penalty area, Griezmann remained unoccupied and his shot ended in the net – 1: 1.
AC Milan could take the lead immediately at ten. He’s got a crack at the rebound all alone in Florenzi … how did he miss that ?! The same player then tried to surprise Oblak with a long lob. The drama on San Sir continued successfully, all the more so because he set up the reserve judge for six minutes. In the first minute of the setting, Maignan had to pull a heavy intervention after a shot by Griezmann and another after a hard blow to Lodi.
And then it came! In the fourth minute, Çakır whipped a penalty kick for Tomori’s hand in the lime. It was a tricky moment, as both camps complained about each other’s hand, but VAR eventually confirmed the penalty for Atlético. Luis Suárez turned it over and Atlético scored all points on San Sir.
