The 72nd edition of the Festival of Sanremo, the first with the audience in the hall after last year’s desolate edition. Leading is once again Amadeus, who takes the stage in one of her beloved sparkly Gai Mattiolo dresses. To accompany the conductor in the early evening is Ornella Muti, swaddled in the clothes of Francesco Scognamiglio. Among the singers on the stage of the early evening Achille Lauro, who appears wearing only a pair of leather pants by Gucci, Noemi, splendid in her nude dress by Alberta Ferretti, and the duo composed of Blanco and Mahmood, undoubtedly the coolest of the evening, respectively in Valentino and Prada. From the singers in the competition to the conductors, passing through the guests at the Ariston, we give the votes to the looks of the protagonists of the first episode of the Festival.
Amadeus glistening on stage
The sparkling dress by Amadeus, in Gai Mattiolo, opens the 72nd Sanremo Festival, which as always does not give up the much loved sparkling look. For the prime time, the host chooses a tuxedo with a blue peak lapel, decorated with vertical sequin stripes. More sober than in other years, too bad for the pinstripe mix / tone-on-tone shimmering detail. Rating 6-

We knew he would amaze us and in this case he did it by working on subtraction. In the first episode of Sanremo 2022 Achille Lauro takes the stage to sing the song “Domenica” staging his pagan baptism. He did it without the special effects he got us used to last year but only wearing a pair of leather pants Gucci and Bvlgari jewelry, without shoes or other accessories. Rating: 8

Ornella Muti shines in the early evening
For the first appearance on the Ariston stage Ornella Muti sports a strapless dress covered with crystals with baroque decoration in silver under the breast. The Neapolitan designer Francesco Scognamiglio signed the custom made suit. Complete the Roger Vivier outfit pump. Not bad the look but nothing spectacular. Grade: 6 and 1/2.

Ornella improves the look with the second release. The second outfit includes a black dress with a wide neckline that leaves the shoulders uncovered and with a maxi slit, again signed by Scognamiglio. Grade 7 and 1/2.

Noemi with the nude dress
Wonderful in her nude Alberta Ferretti dress, and with Bvlgari jewels, Noemi in the first episode of Sanremo 2022 charms with an ethereal look and with her piece “I love you I don’t know how to say”. Sensual but very elegant, the singer shows off one of the most beautiful looks of the evening. Rating: 9

Gianni Morandi and the patterned jacket
Gianni Morandi arrives on stage to sing the notes of the piece “Open all doors” wearing a Giorgio Armani tuxedo, made up of a patterned jacket with shawl lapels, black trousers and bow tie. Morandi manages to be elegant but with an original touch represented by the patterned jacket. Well done. Grade 7 and 1/2

Fiorello with the shiny detail
Total black for Fiorello who arrives in Sanremo with a very chic Giorgio Armani suit. The conductor gets the look right by focusing on the timeless elegance of black and softening the formal look by wearing a lurex shirt without a tie. The detail makes the difference. We like Fiorello elegant and modern. Grade 8 and 1/2

The List Representative with a total black tuxedo
They are cool, they are original, they are fun, the duo in Sanremo 2022 arrives with the piece entitled “Ciao ciao” and with a well-studied style. We like Moschino’s coordinated tuxedos with oversized lines. We like pink hair, shoes with kilometric wedges and crowns. Vote 8

Michele Bravi with flowers on his arms
Three-dimensional flowers on the arms, lurex top and maxi combat boots for Michele Bravi. The look designed by Fausto Puglisi for Roberto Cavalli is a lot of stuff. Undoubtedly the details are original, the mix of garments and the contrast between leather and fabric are beautiful, but the final result is a bit noisy. Postponed. Grade 6–

Total black suits, signed Gucci, for the first outing on stage of the band that won the Festival last year. The great return to Ariston by Damiano & Co. is with black satin suits, oversized jackets with silver rings and chokers with a bondage flavor. Vote 9

Even more beautiful are the looks of the second release with suits with a 70s flavor, satin jackets and flared trousers. The details that complete the outfits are perfect, from the boutonniere to the pearl earrings. Fantastic. vote 10

Massimo Ranieri in total black
The singer arrives in Sanremo 2022 with a dark Versace evening dress. Black too black, a little funereal. Massimo could have toned down the outfit perhaps with a light shirt or a colored tie. Grade 5–

Mahmood and Blanco: cape and oversize
Blanco chooses a Valentino look for the early evening, with a long cape over a transparent silk shirt, Mahmood wears Prada, the look is made up of a blazer and oversized trousers on a white tank top. The two singers are undoubtedly the coolest of this evening, after all already during the inaugural green carpet they had shown they had style to spare. Vote 9

Yuman and the black suit
It’s okay that black is always a guarantee, it’s also okay that oversize is in fashion, but Yuman could have added a touch of color to the look, perhaps playing better with the proportions of the garments … We appreciate the effort but the look, by Federico Cina, is not convincing. The tennis player proves that you don’t need fireworks to be chic. The classic BOSS suit fits him perfectly. Elegant, indeed very elegant with his tuxedo with a velvet jacket with peak lapels, black bow tie, slim-fit trousers and black patent leather shoes. Virtually perfect. Vote 9

Ana Mena, rosso and cuissardes
The young singer wearing an Emporio Armani mini dress with puff skirt, covered with geometric plates and crystals in red tone on tone. Rouge leather cuissardes complete the look. Rkomi proposes on stage one of the freshest and most catchy songs of the Festival, we cannot say the same of the look for the first evening stage. The biker outfit, signed by Etro, is not convincing. Too much skin all at once. It’s okay that the temperatures are cold these days but we don’t understand why gloves are used. Grade 5

Dargen D’Amico and color contrasts
Unusual and original lines, contrasting colors and a refined silhouette characterize the funny look of Dargen D’amico signed by the young designer Alessandro Vigilante. Beautiful details of the jacket with cascading lapels and cut on the cuffs. Finally, a modern but elegant mood arrives on the Ariston stage. Vote 9

Giusy Ferreri crystals and transparencies on stage
Giusy Ferreri has a wonderful voice and always manages to capture the audience with her singing performances. In this early evening she takes the stage in a tight Philipp Plein dress. Unfortunately, the singer with style always has a few small problems. It must be admitted that this year there are many steps forward made but in any case we cannot promote the singer with flying colors. Too bad for those portholes with fuchsia crystals and above all for the plateaus. Grade 5
