Jakarta, Selular.ID – Apple boss Tim Cook said that the iPad in the second quarter of 2021 experienced the most successful achievement in almost a decade of its existence.
His remarks were reinforced by data from the IDC report which recently reported the number of tablet device shipments worldwide, and underlined Apple’s superiority over all its competitors in the product competition pool.

IDC estimates that Apple shipped 12.9 million iPads in the second quarter. Its closest competitor is Samsung, which hit 8 million shipments.
“The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 tablet offers a fantastic device with a strong OLED screen, but remains hampered by the choice of Android tablet applications that are considered less than good,” wrote IDC, Sunday (1/8).
While Lenovo, which continues to release Chromebooks and Chrome OS tablets, has been well received by the market and ranks third with 4.7 million devices shipped, and Amazon is fourth with 4.3 million tablet shipments.

IDC also noted that shipments of PCs and tablets have soared during the COVID-19 pandemic that has gripped the world, making people adapt to work and study from home.
These IDC figures also reveal that Chromebook shipments have grown 68.6 percent year-on-year and reached 12.3 million units shipped in the second quarter. “While this is not a record quarter for Chromebooks, it is not far from the previous two quarters,” the IDC report said.
But IDC expects a possible decline in sales for Chromebooks and tablets due to the ongoing chip shortage, as well as many consumers returning to the workplace or classroom.
Apple said that supply constraints could hurt sales of the iPad in the coming months, and iPhones are likely to be affected as well.
