Reply to Infinix, Xiaomi Indonesia: Very Bad and Misleading

Infinix’s post that satirizes Xiaomi

HP market competition in Indonesia is very hot. Not only discount wars, commentary wars on social media have become commonplace.

Recently uploaded Instagram account Infinix Indonesia angers Mi Fans by comparing specifications Infinix Hot 10S with another smartphone written as “Says Champion”.

The term “champion” itself is often used Xiaomi as Poco’s line jargon. If you look at the upload Infinix it looks like the words “9T” and makes Mi Fans suspect that the phone being compared to Infinix The Hot 10S is the Redmi 9T.

Then upload Infinix it caught the attention of the Country Director Xiaomi Indonesia, Alvin Tse who also commented in the comments column. Answering an Instagram user’s question with the handle @fano_raifans_daop6, Alvin called the post “very bad and misleading”.

“If they correctly compare with our Redmi 9T, somehow they put the wrong specifications,” wrote Alvin.

The erroneous specifications referred to by Alvin for example the screen that should be “Full HD Plus” is called “HD Plus”. Then some other Redmi 9T specifications that are not listed, for example face unlock, stereo speakers, 18 watt charger and several other specifications.

In addition to being misleading, Alvin considered this upload to be fraudulent. “There is no place for fraudulent marketing in this industry,” wrote Alvin.

Through a Twitter account with handle @atytse, Alvin said admin Infinix Indonesia has deleted or hidden its comments. “The admin even hid my upload because I was telling the truth, very dishonest,” wrote Alvin.

A Twitter user with the handle @ffarliani had time to capture Alvin’s comments on Instagram Infinix Indonesia and share it on Twitter.

Responding to Alvin’s attitude on Instagram Infinix Indonesia, Head of Public Relations Xiaomi Indonesia, Stephanie Sicilia said her company welcomes competition in the form of specification comparisons as long as the information provided to consumers is clear and accurate.

“However, we recently found comparisons referring to our products, namely ‘jawara’ and ‘9T’, and displaying the specifications of these products inaccurately,” explained Stephanie.

According to Stephanie, this could have an impact on Indonesian consumers because the information they received was not appropriate. In his comments, Alvin said that his party has the right to take this matter to the ministry because of the advertisement Infinix which is considered misleading.

Responding to Alvin’s comment, Stephanie said it was possible Xiaomi will take that step. Xiaomi will follow the recommendations of a team of legal experts to determine the next steps.

“What is more important here is educating the public about the importance of competing in a healthy manner by displaying clear and accurate information in comparison with competing brands,” said Stephanie.

If traced, before Infinix upload a “hot” image Xiaomi In this case, Poco has also uploaded a similar post. In the upload, it says “Hot 10S” as a cellphone compared to the Poco M3.

Most likely, the phone in question is the latest smartphone Infinix, i.e. Hot 10s. However, this upload is not as busy as the upload Infinix which Alvin then commented.
