A beautiful moment to pay a final tribute to Karl Tremblay.
It was on a very beautiful Saturday when the sun was shining that the population of Repentigny literally filled the square in front of the Cultural Space to honor the memory of Karl Tremblay, during a moment of contemplation. Remember that the singer of Cowboys Fringants died last Wednesday from prostate cancer.
During the tribute, a minute of silence was observed. In addition, the municipality had invited the population to wear their best tie for the occasion in honor of Karl, who used to proudly wear his during shows. Around 1:30 p.m., people began to invade the main square, we felt a lot of nostalgia among the crowd and, spontaneously, the public began to sing the songs of Karl and the Cowboys Fringants, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., which gave rise to a wonderful moment. It is certain that the legendary singer and favorite of the Repentignois would have greatly appreciated the stage.
At 2:30 p.m., Mayor Nicolas Dufour accompanied by the mayor of L’Assomption, Sébastien Nadeau, the Minister of Higher Education and provincial MP for Repentigny, Pascale Déry, and the federal MP, Monique Pauzé, headed towards the stage main.
From the outset, Nicolas Dufour simply said: “You are beautiful! » ; the tone was set for this tribute to Karl Tremblay. The mayor of Repentigny then asked the crowd to hold a minute of silence in honor of the singer. It was at this precise moment that we saw several people shedding tears and people placed bouquets of flowers at the edge of the stage; a very touching moment.
Subsequently, with respect, the politicians came in turn to pay tribute to Karl Tremblay, in the same way as the City of L’Assomption did last Thursday.
After the speeches of the elected officials, the music resumed and the 4000 people present sang songs in the purest Cowboys tradition. A very beautiful ceremony that people will remember for a long time.
