The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has announced that Filipinos repatriated from the conflict-ridden Sudan will receive counseling services to overcome potential trauma resulting from the conflict. DMW Undersecretary Bernard Olalia stated that many of the repatriated individuals have suffered emotional trauma, particularly children, and received immediate psychosocial support upon their arrival. Alongside basic needs such as food and shelter, repatriated Filipinos will also receive assistance from the DMW and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) in setting up businesses, including entrepreneurship seminars and capital. The DMW has also allocated a P50-million action fund to repatriation efforts, providing financial assistance and accommodation to repatriated individuals.
