Repair of the yacht was paid by its owner
Italy is undergoing refurbishment on a huge yacht, the Scheherazade, believed to be owned by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
According to FT, the vessel is being repaired by Italian Sea Group SpA, which stated that the repair costs are paid by the owner. However, the company did not provide other details, as well as disclose the name of the client.

The maintenance of Russian yachts around the world costs millions of dollars annually. Italy blocked 4 ships at once, including the Scheherazade.
According to the country’s State Property Agency, the maintenance of these yachts took $40 million in a year, so the Italian authorities agreed to allow the owner to pay for the repairs.
It is worth noting that US authorities last year reported that Scheherazade’s front owner is a little-known Russian oligarch who is not on the list of the world’s richest people.
At the same time, investigators from the team of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny noted in March 2022 that FSO employees who are responsible for the security of top officials of Russia, including Putin, worked on this yacht.
